Place enclosed plastic cap on top of spike. Drive spike into the ground around tree or shrub following the dripline as illustrated. Spikes should be at least 90 cm (3 ft) apart. For small trees and shrubs, spikes should not be placed closer than 60 cm (2 ft) from the tree trunk or centre of shrub. If the dripline is closer than 60 cm (2 ft), insert spikes 60 cm (2 ft) away from the center of shrub or tree trunk. Remove plastic cap and save for future use. Continue to drive spike 5 cm (2 inches) below the soil surface.
Apply once in early Spring, or once in mid-Fall when the ground is soft and moist. If the ground is dry, wet before driving spikes.
